I head up the Employment and Company Commercial team at Bolt Burdon. I am an experienced employment lawyer and advise employers and employees on the full range of contentious and non-contentious employment and HR matters.
When acting for employers (whether that be an owner management business or larger corporations), I strongly believe in taking a proactive and, where possible, commercial approach to look after the best interests of the business. As a team, we advise on all day to day HR queries, hiring and firings, re-structures and workplace disputes. We take pride in partnering with businesses and working with their management teams or People/HR teams to build long standing relationships and to achieve pragmatic solutions to problems. It’s our role to help our clients take proactive steps to avoid employment related disputes and to assist them in taking positive steps to maintain an incentivised workforce.
Having originally trained as a corporate solicitor and because of my love and interest in the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations (TUPE), I am an expert in advising on TUPE and the employment aspects of corporate transactions as well as TUPE related disputes and outsourcing arrangements.
On the employee side, as well as advising on workplace disputes, we help senior people obtain the most favourable terms before starting a new role as well as negotiating the best possible settlement terms when exiting a role. We are on your side and will use our considerable collective experience to work with you to achieve the best possible outcome for you in the circumstances. We will guide you through the process every step of the way.
Career Highlight
Working in partnership with a client’s People/HR team to conduct a complex collective redundancy exercise where our hard work paid off as the affected staff left with dignity and an appreciation of the fairness and transparency of the approach taken. As a result, no grievances were raised and no claims were made
Fun Fact
My dad met and had a drink (or two!) with Elvis Presley in Germany when my dad was undertaking his National Service in the RAF.
